Velda has been involved with the youth of her community for several years. She has been part of the Greater Brazoria Youth Sports Association for 14 years as a parent, cheer coach and currently the cheer director of the Manvel Texans formerly the Manvel Jaguars.

As an enthusiastic member of her church, The Servants House Ministries, Velda serves on the Ushers board as well as being the Youth Sunday School Teacher where her pride and joy is developing the youth of today into outstanding adults of the future.

Velda has always been there supporting her children and all kids in the community and schools. She has unofficially adopted many youth and watchtower grow into great adults and taking what they have learned from her to teach the youth under them. As cheer director for the Manvel Texans Goddess, she has encouraged young girls to never give up and do what you think you cannot do. Teaching them self respect and self motivation. She has several Goddess go on to become Middle School, High School and even College Cheerleaders and Dancers. Her motto is "If you believe you can, you will" & " Never let anyone tell you that you can’t ".
